Are you tired of eating like a little bird and starving to lose weight to gain it all back? Welcome to the club!

Do you know how many times I've heard that Italian pasta is forbidden for any successful weight loss program, especially from low carb supporters? Carbs work as body fuel; they give you energy. The issue is that you have to use that energy, if not, then it becomes stored fat. Simple, just like one plus one is two. See the point?

Well, I will talk based on my own weight loss experience while enjoying a healthy Mediterranean diet.  I lost 80 pounds from 230 pounds and keeping the weight off for over 3 years.

I love pasta and eat pasta while still keeping the weight off.
Moreover, I make my own home-made pasta (check the bottom of the article for my Italian Pasta Dough recipe).

Extreme diets are not good in the long-term.  Certainly, you can lose weight on those quick "hunger" diets, but is not better to enjoy eating healthier and still losing weight? You bet it is!

You can eat your favorite Italian pasta and lose weight. Why giving up your spaghetti and meatballs, lasagna, spaghetti bolognese, pasta faglioli, pasta pomodoro, pasta primavera, pasta carbonara, penne pasta, spaghetti, ravioli,  when you can do so without feeling guilty? Instead, you can make your own weight loss success story without giving up your pasta!

Hence, I will share with you my weight loss secret to enjoy your favorite Italian pasta and still lose weight: Small portions, eat slowly, and exercise. Wait... there is more...

Although there is not a "one-size-fits-all diet," a Mediterranean style diet is a balanced way of life providing you with proper nutrients.

Truth is you need to have protein, carbs, fiber, and good fat in your weight loss program.  Not only you can eat healthy pasta recipe, but also your favorite Italian pasta sald and still lose weight deliciously.

Hey, remember, you can make your own weight loss success story without giving up your pasta.

The secret is "moderation and not consuming more calories than you can burn."

   Weight Loss Problem

Now, do not get me wrong. Yes, you can gain weight if you eat too much starchy carbs, such as pasta and white rice without exercising and not consuming enough protein. In addition, if your pasta dish is a "super size me" portion, most likely you will pile on extra calories.

A normal 1/2 cup of pasta has about 200 calories, if you get "super size pasta," which most restaurants serve the equivalent of three to four cups of pasta, are you adding the numbers? Voila, you will have about 600-800 calories, without including those warm bread served before the pasta, plus your deserve, and so on.

Obviously, you are going to add extra calories, and if you do not burn those extra calories, well, helloo... you know where those calories are going to go. Exactly, right there, as stored fat and a big bloated stomach with love hanldes.

Therefore, get healthy pasta recipe and do not oversize your pasta portion neither at home or at the restaurant.  Following this simple weight loss tip will hel you avoid a big fat belly, lunwanted love handles, stubborn belly fat, fat stomach and a bloated stomach. I am telly you this by my own weight loss experience.

Weight Loss Solution to enjoy your favorite pasta recipe

If you consumed la high calorie pasta dish or ost control of your pasta size portion.  Do not panic!
You still can manage your weight loss diet.

After a heavy carb meal, for your next meal and next day menu:

-  Modify your menu and have more fresh vegetables and fresh fruits, It will help you detoxify your body and keep you hydrated.  Fruits and vegetables help you boost the breakdown fat storing toxins.
Ex. pineapples, watermelon, fennel, tomatoes, spinach, cucumber, and ginger, among others.

-  Include more protein choices, such as chicken, cottage cheese, yogurt, etc. and eat less starch carbs.   In other words, make it a high protein and low carb menu.

-  Use small pasta bowls instead of using big plates.

-  Try having a peppermint tea 30 minutes before eating.  It will help you eat less.  Peppermint leaf  has a component called menthofurn that signals fullness in your brain's satiety center.  Plus, it helps your digestion system, alleviating bloated feeling.  You can also have a peppermint tea after eating your meals.

-  Increase your cardio exercises.
Ex. a 30-minute cardio turn into a 45-minutes cardio exercise to help you burn more calories..

- Have a hot lemon tea before breakfast and after meals. It promotes intestinal contractions speeding the elimination of fat storing toxins.

-  One day or two, then you can start having your everyday pasta in moderate portion.

Nutritional supplements to help you improve your digestion system and fat burning ability

Ultimate carb control - Neutralizes up to 75 grams of carbohydrates per tablet.
Safe and effective with no gas or bloating.

    Phase 2 - A natural, non-stimulant dietary supplement.
May neutralize the alpha amylase enzyme before it can convert starch into glucose,
allowing carbs to pass through the system with less caloric uptake.

Tonalin CLA- helps the body burn fat while promoting lean muscle development

Chromiun Picolinate Weight Control,- Encourages carbohydrate metabolism helping limit fat storage.

The point is that you should not starve, neither deprive yourself of your favorite pasta recipe.
Losing weight should not be a burden experience, but a pleasant journey to a healthy lifestyle.
If your weight loss program has extreme diets casuing you starvation, review your nutrion weight loss and get a healthy diet program.

Carbs are not your enemy. Big portion meals and lack of exercise are your enemies. Moderation is your best weight loss friend.

Let me give you an example. When I was living in Italy, I used to eat pasta almost every day, including lunch and dinner and I did not gain weight. Why? Simply, my lifestyle was very active. In Italy, I used to walk daily.

Now, comparing Italian portions versus most American portions there is a big difference. Here is why, reportedly, there are more overweight people in the USA. Consuming extra - humongous portions - and not exercising results in overweight, obese people.

Then, eating pasta is not the responsible for you to gain weight. It is the oversize portions "super size me," unbalanced meals, and no exercises.

Another difference, eating habits are almost set to the clock. This means not eating often or while standing. Mealtimes are to enjoy. I did gain weight when I came back to the USA.

I continued eating my pasta just as I did in Italy but I was not walking anymore. Also, I noticed my taste switched to "super size me" portions and eating all kinds of junk food... so, no wonder why I gained so much weight soon. I had a big belly, a fat stomach.

Yet,  I take full responsibility for my negligence because I surrendered to the "super size portions" trap. Good thing is that I survived heavy super size commercials too and YOU can do it too.

Now, I still eat my pasta, and sometimes even make my own home-made pasta too. How you can do it? Reprogramming the over weight mind is the best weight loss tip I can give you.

Learn how to adjust your eating habits and a healthy lifestyle.

1. Eat every 3 hours to boost the metabolism and burn stored fat.

2. Eat pasta mostly for lunch (occasionally, you can have pasta for dinner).

3. Drink your 8 glasses of water to keep your body hydrated, flush toxins,

4. Exercise 5 days a week (combine cardio exercises and weight training).

5. Have your nutritional supplements, and drink 2 cups of green tea daily to boost your metabolism and flush toxins.

6. Make sure to include protein for breakfast and dinner and within 30 minutes after working out.

Hey... it's been over 3 years and I have not gained the weight back.... yet, I still enjoy my fresh home made Italian pasta and "la dolce vita" with my favorite red wine "Chianti."

A good weight loss tip is never force yourself to finish a meal when your stomach says, "Hey, I am full."
If you force yourself to continue eating after feeling full, you will end up with a big stomach,
stubborn belly fat, and an upset stomach.

I want to help you lose weight by setting realistic goals and learning how to eat healthier. Hence, your best diet for life is: MODERATION.

Let me make a toast with you to cheer you up on your quest to lose weight. Start with these 4 basic principles:

1. Check your meals size portion.
2. Take at least 30 minutes to eat your meals.
3. Start exercising.
4. Drink your 8 glasses of water, and believe in yourself.

You Can Lose Weight and Stop the Yo-Yo Diet and those bird or elephant meal portions. You can discover the NEW you, just as I did. Your new figure is waiting for you! If I did it, so can you.

In the meantime, let's enjoy this delicious meal and still lose weight - my very own home made Italian pasta with a bruschetta, an aperitivo "Bellagio style", a green salad, and my favorite Chianti wine. Buon appetito!

Viva la pasta e la dolce vita!

BONUS RECIPE TIP:

Basic Italian Pasta Dough

3 1/2 to 4 cups all-purpose flour – (Preferably, fine white flour grade 00)
4 extra large eggs
1/2 teaspoon extra virgin olive oil

Preparation

Preferably, use a wooden board to prepare your  pasta dough.
Mound 3 1/2 cups of the flour in the center of your board.
Then, make a well in the middle of the flour adding the eggs one by one and the olive oil.
Use a fork to beat together the eggs and oil.

Here is the delicate part
, start incorporating the flour, work your way from the center toward the
outer edge of the flour.
Start kneading the dough with both hands. (by the way.. a great arm exercise ha ha)..
Continue kneading for about 10 more minutes.

Key: The dough should be elastic, a little sticky, and not too solid. After you get your pasta dough texture ready, wrap the pasta dough in plastic. Let it rest for about 30 minutes at room temperature.

Now… after the pasta dough rested for 30 minutes, you are ready to roll and shape your pasta..

    Hi Anna,

This sounds great! Exactly the way I would make pasta if I had the time. I have been the same weight for over 20 years and although more than what I was in my 20s, I am not looking to either gain or lose weight. I think your diet plans are very good and can be very helpful to anyone.

Although I don't eat much pasta since I am not partial to spaghetti sauce, I do sometimes indulge in it with white sauces.

Most of your ideas are things I have implemented in my lifestyle over the years. I think people should listen to your advice on diet and exercise because it definitely encourages healthy eating and exercise habits.
